Becoming your own banker. The questions people ask first.
What is the Infinite Banking Concept?
The Infinite Banking Concept (IBC) is a process developed by Nelson Nash for using a specially-structured, dividend-paying whole life insurance policy as your own personal banking system. Instead of paying interest to outside lenders or losing growth by draining savings, you store capital inside a contract that compounds uninterrupted, then borrow against it whenever you need money for life's big purchases.
Is this an investment?
No. IBC is not an investment, a mutual fund, or a market-based product. It is a process for organizing how your capital flows. The underlying tool is a participating whole life insurance contract with a Canadian mutual company, where your cash value grows at a guaranteed rate plus dividends, with no market risk.
How is this different from regular whole life insurance?
A standard whole life policy is built for the death benefit. An IBC-designed policy is structured for maximum early cash value and long-term compounding, using paid-up additions and the right base/PUA ratio. The design matters more than the company. Without it, the policy will not behave like a banking system.
How do I actually borrow against it?
You call the insurance company and request a policy loan. There is no application, credit check, or approval process. The loan is collateralized by your cash value, which keeps compounding on the full balance as if you never borrowed. You set your own repayment schedule.
How much money do I need to start?
Policies can be designed around almost any consistent monthly or annual contribution. What matters is that the amount is sustainable for the long term, since the system compounds the longer it runs. We design around your cash flow, not a minimum.
Is this only for wealthy people or business owners?
No. IBC works for families, savers, professionals, and investors at many income levels. Business owners and real estate investors often see it first because of the liquidity benefits, but the underlying process applies to anyone who handles money, which is everyone.
Is it safe? What if the insurance company has a bad year?
We work exclusively with established Canadian mutual life insurance companies with continuous dividend payment histories spanning over a century, through every major recession and depression. Your cash value growth is contractually guaranteed, and dividends, while not guaranteed, have been paid every year for over 100 years.
